Project Profile

A growing family combined with a desire to enhance the liveability of a weatherboard cottage with a lean-to 1980s addition was the starting point for a double storey rear extension for this project.   The emphasis here is on retaining original features while complimenting them with a feeling of openness and light.  The quality of light changes throughout the day, with the custom screening of the stair filtering the morning sun from the high-level eastern windows, and the north facing glazing brightening the spaces through the afternoon.  The addition has a warmth and connection to the south facing garden that provides an indoor-outdoor experience all year.
